Do international fans view idol departures differently from Korean fans?
학생이 쓴 원문
Since I do not follow K-pop culture, I am not sure of the difference between Korean and international fans. However, YouTube shared some videos through its algorithms which were related to this matter. It was regarding the hiatus of a member from KATSEYE, a Korean girl group active in the United States. I believe Korean fans are more obsessed with navigating the reason behind their departure. Mostly, they blame the group and look for the cause within it, such as discord among members. This is because they grew up seeing the problem in the K-pop ecosystem as deriving mostly from the companies. Alongside this, many groups are disbanding due to jealousy. On the other hand, foreign fans are not very familiar with K-pop culture, so they mostly accept the official statement at face value. Sometimes, they bring up racism issues like KATSEYE. However, it is extremely rare for them to do so, as most members of K-pop groups are Korean. Du
